HNK Rijeka is at the center of a scandal after president Damir Mišković left Pula due to problems with entering the stadium. This happened on a Sunday evening in Pula, on the margins of the match between Istra 1961 and HNK Rijeka. Mišković, who is also the vice-president of the Croatian Football Federation, was barely allowed to enter the 'Aldo Drosina' stadium. Only the organizers know the reason for this. When he arrived at the stadium with his associates, Mišković was greeted with the question 'Who are you?' and a ban on entering the official parking lot. Mišković managed to park his car and, with his closest associates, somehow made it to the stands at 'Drosina', but when the referee announced a break, he called his colleague, the president of Istra 1961, and ironically told him 'Thanks for the hospitality towards the people from HNK Rijeka's management and the fans of Rijeka. Nice greeting' and then got into his car and returned to Rijeka. He is expecting a great joy there, as another grandchild is on the way. He left Pula demonstratively, bitterly disappointed that Istra 1961 did not show elementary sportsmanship and courtesy, which is normally assumed in every derby, regardless of whether it's played at Rujevica or 'Drosina'. HNK Rijeka has officially addressed NK Istra 1961 and expressed serious dissatisfaction with the behavior of the organizers. In the letter, it is stated that HNK Rijeka has always maintained correct and professional relationships with NK Istra 1961, as well as respect for all managements and employees of football clubs. We believe that rivalry belongs exclusively to the sports field and fans, while in the relationships between the managements and employees of the clubs, mutual respect must prevail. Unfortunately, we are obliged to express serious dissatisfaction with the behavior of the organizers. Damir Mišković confirmed the circumstances and declined the possibility of any comment. The man was already behind the wheel and on his way back to Rijeka. He didn't need to say anything, his actions explained what he thinks and what his mood is. Rijeka's fans in Pula have not been treated like other visiting teams for some time, and now the situation has escalated several octaves, so there is no place for the president of the visiting club at the stadium. Maybe he should buy a ticket and take out a yearly parking subscription. HNK Rijeka will fight for the rights of its president and fans. We expect an apology from NK Istra 1961 and a promise to behave professionally in the future.
