HNK Rijeka has officially named its Rujevica training camp 'Kamp HNK Rijeka, Dean Šćulac' in memory of its long-time vice-president, the man central to the complex's construction and the club's successes. This symbolic decision was made one year after his death, reminding everyone of his quiet but foundational role in what the club calls the 'Rijeka football renaissance'.

The club published an emotional text describing Šćulac as a person woven into every thread of football life in Rijeka. He was the right-hand man of president Damir Mišković and among those most responsible for the team's achievements. During the construction of the new camp at Rujevica, Šćulac was present on the site 24 hours a day, paying attention to every detail. Today, that camp is considered one of the best in the region.

"He was a good friend," said president Damir Mišković through tears at the plaque unveiling. Šćulac was known for his decisiveness and ability to 'stand on the ball' when emotions ran high, meaning he would pause and reflect before making important decisions. He remained with the club during his difficult illness, offering advice and support.

The club concluded its message with the words: "And so, Dean, thank you for everything." The plaque unveiling was a symbolic moment that reminded them of better and happier times building a Rijeka worthy of admiration and respect.

This emotional moment comes as the first team prepares for the season's continuation. HNK Rijeka currently sits 5th in the HNL with 7 points from four games, having secured a convincing 3-0 win against Hajduk in the last round. Their next challenge is an away fixture against Istra 1961 on November 7th. The team is currently led by top scorer D.

The trip to face Istra will be the first chance for the squad to continue building on the foundations Šćulac helped lay, carrying his name at their daily workplace.
